If you are experiencing bites or skin irritation it can be easy to jump to the conclusion that this may be bedbugs. Sometimes this may not be the case.

 

Bedbugs can be very difficult to spot so sometimes it may be necessary for us to carry out a thorough inspection.

Why you shouldn't use over-the-counter pest products before our treatment.

 

Using DIY sprays or powders before our visit might feel proactive-but it can actually make things worse.

Steam, stand alone spray treatments and heat pods? 

We do use super heated steam occasionally however,

 

  • Steam might kill some bugs on the mattress but will not reach inside furniture or wall voids
  • Sprays require precise application and sometimes multiple visits
  • Bugs often avoid treated areas or develop resistance
  • Heat pods treat the mattress or clothes-but leave the room untreated, allowing bugs to survive and reinfest.

Heat sensitive items- REMOVE or STORE SAFELY

We really do want your bedbug treatment to work 100%  so your help with preparation is extremely important.

Check all items for bedbugs and place in sealed containers in a cool area (garage, shed)

  • Wax based items: candles, crayons, cosmetics, soaps
  • Electronics: laptops, tablets, games consoles, LCD/LED/Plasma TVs
  • Musical instruments, vinyl records, CDs /DVDs
  • Medications, corked wine, carbonated drinks, chocolate
  • Oil paintings, photo negatives, printer ink cartridges
  • Aerosols and pressurized containers: hairspray, bugspray, asthma inhalers
  • Flammables: lighters, lamp fuel, solvents, paints etc
  • Valuables: heirlooms, jewelry, irreplaceable items 

Pets and plants MUST BE REMOVED

  • All pets (including fish, birds, reptiles
  • Aquariums: remove fish, unplug heaters, allow water to cool before reintroducing

Bedding: sheets, blankets, duvet cover, pillow cases etc CAN BE LEFT IN ROOM.  When heat treatment has commenced we will place in water soluble bags and hand over for hot wash cycle.
